Mouthguards

Mouthguards huddersfield

At Honley Dental, we are dedicated to preventing dental problems and ensuring the safety of your smile. Preventing trauma is just as important as preventing decay. Injuries to the mouth and face can have lifelong consequences, making protection essential, especially for those participating in organised contact sports and other recreational activities. Mouthguards help cushion impacts to the mouth and teeth, minimising the risk of broken teeth and injuries to the lips and tongue. Typically, mouthguards cover the upper teeth.

Types of Mouthguards

Custom-made
At Honley Dental, we provide custom-fitting mouthguards made from direct moulds of your teeth and mouth. These offer the best fit and most comfort, ensuring optimal protection. Our custom-made mouthguards come in a variety of colours and can be customised with special designs to suit your preferences.

Boil and Bite
Available at sports stores, these mouthguards are softened in water and then inserted into the mouth to mould to your teeth. While they offer a better fit than stock mouthguards, they do not provide the same level of comfort or protection as custom-made options.

Stock
These mouthguards are pre-formed and ready to use immediately upon purchase from sports stores. Unfortunately, they often have a poor fit and are usually uncomfortable, offering the least protection.

Advantages of Using Mouthguards

Prevent Damage to Teeth
Mouthguards help to prevent damage to your teeth caused by trauma, reducing the risk of fractures or breaks.

Prevent Tooth Loss
By cushioning impacts, mouthguards minimise the risk of tooth loss due to trauma.

Prevent Damage to Mouth and Lips
Mouthguards protect the soft tissues of your mouth and lips from injuries caused by impacts, preventing cuts and bruises.
