Meet the Team

Dr M. Tyzzer-Smith B.D.S. (Hons)

Mark graduated, with Honours, from Newcastle University in 1996. After working as an associate for 5 years, Mark and his wife Rachael became the principal dentists at the Honley dental practice in 2001.

Mark has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and has attended numerous advanced courses in this field of dentistry. The ethos of Mark's treatment plans is to produce a natural smile which suits the individual.

This allows the patient to maintain their personality rather than giving everybody the same whiter than white characterless smile. He has also undertaken advanced training in restorative and implant dentistry and accepts referrals from other dentists in West Yorkshire.

Away from work Mark enjoys football, golf, skiing and spending time with his wife and daughters.

Dr R. Tyzzer-Smith B.D.S.

Rachael also graduated from Newcastle University in 1996. After working in Batley for 5 years Rachael and her husband bought the Honley Dental Practice in 2001.

Rachael is proud to be a general dentist and is particularly well liked by our more nervous patients due to her calm and gentle demeanour.

Rachael does have a special interest in tooth whitening having carried out well over 100 1 hour BriteSmile procedures.

Outside work Rachael enjoys being with her two daughters, keep fit, reading and shopping.

Dr Andy Pollard BChd

Andy graduated at Leeds University in 1998 where he was awarded the Perry Leigh prize for excellence in Oral Pathology and Radiology. He joined the Honley Dental Practice in 2002.

Andy enjoys Oral Surgery and has recently completed an extensive postgraduate course that includes all the latest advances in general and cosmetic dentistry.

Outside dentistry Andy enjoys playing football as well as hill walking, Guinness and red wine with his wife Nina.

Dr Nigel Hargreaves B.D.S. MDentSci (Rest Dent).

Nigel qualified at Sheffield University in 1988, and started advanced restorative dentistry training in 1999, he completed a Masters Degree in Restorative Dentistry in 2005 at The Leeds Dental Institute.

Nigel has worked in private prosthodontic practice since 1995 and has received advanced training in London, Austria, Italy, Portugal and the USA in the fields of Implantology, Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry by some of the worlds leading clinicians.

He lectures extensively in these fields himself throughout the UK. He is also a Nobel Biocare Mentor, which involves teaching and supervising dentists on a one to one basis in all aspects of Implantology from their own practice environment through his company "One to One Implant Training".

Hygienists

Sharron Parr

Sharron graduated from Manchester University in 1998.

She works in other practices in Huddersfield and Halifax as well as here in Honley.

Sharron is a member of the British Society of Periodontology, and undertakes regular Postgraduate education.

Out of work, Sharron enjoys cooking, reading and yoga.

Janet Brook

Janet qualified from The Leeds Dental Institute in 1986 and has worked at The Honley Dental practice since 1990.

Janet is a member of the British Dental Hygienists Association and attends regular courses for continued professional development.

She enjoys walking and watching her family play sport. She is also a keen reader and enjoys the odd glass of wine.
