Implants
Dental implants are essentially false roots on top of which we can attach crowns, bridges or dentures.
Small titanium posts are inserted into the jawbone and after a period of approximately 4 months impressions are taken for the final restoration.
In some cases it is possible to place a prototype restoration on top of the implant at the same visit as
the implant is placed (immediate loading). If it is not possible to immediately load the implant, and the
implant is placed in an area where it would be unacceptable to leave a gap, then a temporary bridge or
denture can be worn during the healing period.
Implants are now recognised as the most predictable and longest lasting method of replacing missing teeth. Implants can last a lifetime.
The average cost of a single tooth implant is £2500. As there can be great differences between the
treatment needed from one case to the next, each patient is given an individual treatment plan and made
fully aware of all the costs involved before any treatment commences.
